Midwife-led Community Transformation (MILCOT)

Midwife-led Community Transformation (MILCOT) is an inspiring community-based organization founded by Harriet Nayiga in 2017. Harriet is a midwife based in Uganda. Her vision took shape after witnessing the struggles of women in hospitals, grappling with preventable complications such as unsafe abortions. Recognizing the untapped potential of midwives to provide essential preventive solutions, she set out to make a difference.

MILCOT’s mission is to empower midwives and promote community-based healthcare, ensuring that preventive measures are readily accessible to women and families. By extending the reach of midwives beyond the labor suites and into the heart of communities, MILCOT strives to prevent unnecessary suffering and improve overall maternal and reproductive health.

MILCOT believes that midwives are catalysts for transformation, and we are committed to equipping them with the knowledge, resources, and support they need to thrive in their vital roles. Through advocacy, education, and community engagement, MILCOT works to bridge the gap between healthcare facilities and the communities they serve.

MILCOT is looking to build several clinics in Uganda and other countries in the ECSA Region. Join us on this journey of empowerment and change. Together, we can transform communities, improve maternal health, and create a brighter future for all. Welcome to Midwife-led Community Transformation (MILCOT), where midwives lead the way to healthier communities.

Endometriosis Africa Program

The Endometriosis Africa Program is an initiative born out of compassion and dedication to improving the lives of individuals living with Endometriosis. Led by Grace Nagawa, Co-Founder, and CEO of Endometriosis Foundation Uganda, our program is committed to providing support, education, and advocacy for those facing the challenges of this debilitating condition.

Endometriosis affects millions of women worldwide, and unfortunately, misdiagnosis and ineffective symptom management are all too common. Grace Nagawa recognized the urgent need for change and decided to take action. Through the Endometriosis Africa Program, we aim to raise awareness, promote early detection, and foster a community of understanding and support.

Our mission is to empower individuals living with Endometriosis, equipping them with the knowledge and resources to navigate their journey towards better health and well-being. Together, we can make a difference, breaking the barriers of misdiagnosis and ensuring that no one faces this battle alone.

Join us in our fight against Endometriosis and be a part of a movement that brings hope, support, and lasting change to the lives of those affected. Together, we can create a future where Endometriosis is recognized, understood, and effectively managed. Welcome to the Endometriosis Africa Program, where compassion meets action.

ESG Partnerships

The award winning Vaka Health Foundation ESG support opportunities focus on promoting the attainment of universal health coverage in remote and rural communities by leveraging mobile health technology (The VakaAfya platform). The platform delivers preventive health services to all and strengthens health services by empowering Africa’s health-workforce through advanced nursing practice trainings, micro-credentialing, health-prenuership and availing tools for clinical decision support. Vaka Health Foundation is putting the “S” in ESG by focusing on social factors within the Environmental, Social, and Governance framework.

When it comes to mining organisations, incorporating the “S” in ESG means considering the social impacts of their operations on various stakeholders, including employees, communities, and indigenous groups.

Vaka Health Foundation also meets the needs of the Sustainable Development Goals that call for action from all countries – poor, rich and middle-income – to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. They recognize that ending poverty must go hand-in-hand with strategies that build economic growth and address a range of social needs including education, health, social protection, and job opportunities, while tackling climate change and environmental protection.
